    About Hunter

    Hunter Tarvin, LCSW

Hunter Tarvin, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and earned her MSW at N.Y.U. She is deeply passionate about supporting individuals on their paths toward healing, growth, and greater self-understanding. Grounded in presence, empathy, and genuine curiosity, Hunter believes every behavior is rooted in emotion and unmet inner needs.

Hunter helps clients slow down, turn inward, and explore their emotional landscapes with compassion. She creates a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where people feel truly heard and safe to make meaningful changes. Clients describe her as warm, grounding, and deeply supportive.

Drawing from a psychodynamic foundation, Hunter integrates evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She views the therapeutic relationship as a powerful catalyst for growth and uses the connection itself to explore relational patterns. Her work often incorporates meditation and breath-based practices to help clients attune to both emotional and somatic experiences.

Hunter also works with couples and is trained in the Gottman Method, helping partners strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and deepen emotional connection.

In addition to her clinical training, Hunter is a certified RYT-200 yoga instructor. She weaves yogic principles into her work to support mind-body awareness, emotion regulation, and a sense of calm and clarity. She meets clients exactly where they are and enjoys supporting those navigating life transitions, managing stress or anxiety, working through mental health challenges, or seeking personal growth.

In her free time, Hunter enjoys practicing yoga, being outside and in nature, trying new recipes, and spending time with her yellow lab, Phoebe.
